The role sits in the COO Transformation Tech group.
Key responsibilities

- Shape architecture and technical direction across AWS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
- Develop software and automation, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into the platform, guiding their practical, responsible adoption.
- Embed automated testing, observability, monitoring and secure-by-design engineering practices.
- Improve delivery through infrastructure as code, CI/CD, GitOps and reusable engineering patterns.
- Strengthen operational resilience, reliability, disaster recovery, performance and cost efficiency.
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge and influence technical outcomes across squads and the wider crew.
Required profile
- Experienced software engineer and technical leader who enjoys working across software, platforms and operations.
- Able to turn complex requirements into practical engineering solutions, influence architectural decisions and support others to grow.
- Experience applying AI within software or platform engineering is strongly preferred; candidates with relevant exposure and a strong ability to build capability will also be considered.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence architecture and engineering standards across teams.
Required skills
- Strong software engineering experience in Python, Java or .NET, including design, testing and secure coding.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating solutions on AWS and Kubernetes, ideally including Amazon EKS.
- Practical experience with AI-enabled solutions, intelligent automation, machine learning integration patterns, RAG or agentic AI.
- CI/CD, GitHub Actions, GitOps, Argo CD, Helm and infrastructure as code such as CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of observability, reliability engineering, security, IAM, encryption and operational support.
- Relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or MongoDB are well regarded.
