Sr. Tier II Network Technician

About the role

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is looking for a senior Tier II Network Technician to support WAN and LAN networks, provide incident resolution, and act as a subject‑matter expert for network technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve incident tickets, perform routing and firewall changes, and draft standard network change requests.
• Support installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN devices, VLANs, port security, and encryption equipment such as TACLANEs.
• Maintain topology drawings, asset records, and inventory; perform COMSEC custodian duties in line with U.S. Government policies.
• Coordinate network operations, upgrades, and repairs; assist Tier III engineers on projects, site surveys, and technical exchange meetings.

Required profile

• TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• 16 years of combined education and experience in network engineering (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience, etc.).
• DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 compliance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Required skills

• Layer 2 switching (VLAN, port security, thin configurations) and basic routing fundamentals.
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade and Foundry operating systems.
• Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols: OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
• Experience with COMSEC equipment, TACLANE, and secure communication devices.
• Proficiency with ServiceNow, Microsoft Visio, Atlassian Confluence, and Cisco/Juniper RMA processes.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, fiber (single‑mode/multi‑mode), CAT5, SFP, and serial cabling.
