Speech Pathologist

About the role

St Giles, a Tasmanian provider of Allied Health, community support and assistive technology services since 1937, is looking for Speech Pathologists to join its multi-disciplinary Allied Health team. The role is offered statewide, supporting people with disability and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and report on communication and swallowing disorders, organise and implement treatment, and work with staff and families or caregivers on intervention strategies.
• Advocate for communication support for participants with communication difficulties.
• Provide mealtime management plans and help improve mealtimes.
• Select and use evidence-based practices and service delivery methods, reviewing them regularly.

Required profile

• Professional qualification in Speech Pathology with an active membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or willingness to obtain it.
• Willingness to travel within the state to deliver services elsewhere and to work outside normal hours when needed.
• Current driver's licence.
• Current or ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Card / NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• National Police Check no older than 3 months.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NDIS and participant- and family-centred practice is desirable.
