Speech Pathologist Grade 3 Outpatient Rehabilitation

About the role

Cabrini Health is seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist for a Grade 3 leadership position within its rehabilitation team in Elsternwick. The role sits in the Allied Health department, which covers twelve allied health professions, and works across Outpatient Neurology, the Parkinson's disease program, the neuro-oncology homecare service and the management of the home-based palliative care service. It also provides clinical support and guidance to staff in the inpatient rehabilitation caseload at Brighton.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist current clinical knowledge and skills in rehabilitation.
• Ensure clinical services respond to the needs of Cabrini patients.
• Lead goal setting and team objectives for relevant clinical services as a senior member of the Allied Health team.
• Maintain ongoing personal professional development and continuing education.
• Initiate, implement and evaluate research, and encourage staff participation in research and quality projects.

Required profile

• Experience working with patients with communication and swallowing deficits of neurological origin, and with patients presenting with Parkinson's disease.
• Well-consolidated, broad post-graduate experience in a hospital setting, ideally in an outpatient setting.
• Experience assessing and managing adults with communication and swallowing disorders across a range of aetiologies.
• Membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
• Strong leadership skills, ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, and excellent communication skills.
• Experience with palliative care patients is advantageous.

Required skills

• Videofluoroscopy competency and LSVT certification are desirable.
