Specification & Business Development Specialist – Offsite/Modular Construction

About the role

The Specification & Business Development Specialist will identify early‑stage off‑site and modular construction projects, influence design specifications, and convert those specifications into sales. The role combines technical expertise with business development to grow Sika’s market share in modern methods of construction.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and engage architects, engineers, consultants and developers during design and tender phases to secure Sika systems in specifications and BOQs.
• Deliver technical presentations, CPD sessions and Lunch & Learns on modular, panelised and hybrid construction.
• Provide guidance on joint design, substrate compatibility, performance validation and NCC/standards compliance.
• Build relationships with modular builders, pod manufacturers and panel fabricators, integrating Sika solutions into production‑line applications.
• Collaborate with internal Sales, Technical Service, R&D and Marketing to transition specifications into firm orders and manage CRM pipeline.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in specification sales, business development or technical product sales within building materials, construction chemicals or industrial adhesives/sealants.
• Proven track record influencing architects, engineers and consultants to secure specifications and convert them into project sales.
• Willingness to travel as required and valid Australian working rights.

Required skills

• Knowledge of adhesives, sealants, waterproofing, flooring and roofing systems.
• Understanding of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), off‑site/volumetric modular, panelised and precast manufacturing.
• Proficiency with CRM tools and structured pipeline management.
