Specialist Procurement – Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME)

About the role

The Specialist Procurement – Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) will join Rio Tinto’s Global Equipment team in Perth. In this influential position you will strengthen operational excellence across the HME category by building data‑driven fact bases and applying automation and AI tools to improve insight, productivity and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust, data‑driven fact bases, including macro‑economic analysis, supplier insights and HME technology trends to support category and sourcing strategies.
• Manage end‑to‑end sourcing events – stakeholder briefings, tender coordination, evaluation, negotiation, award, implementation and Ariba workspace management.
• Draft and negotiate contracts and statements of work for technology initiatives with clear scopes, accountabilities and commercial models.
• Implement and audit contract management controls to prevent value leakage and conduct Supplier Relationship Management activities.
• Act as the primary category interface with Fleet Planning, Market Analysis, Treasury, Outline Agreement teams and productivity partners.
• Provide commercial guidance and insights to regional procurement, finance, fleet planning and operations to support pricing decisions and reduce total cost of ownership.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a commercial, procurement, technical or operational role, preferably with heavy mobile equipment or complex operational environments.
• Proven experience in complex pricing negotiations, commercial evaluations and financial modelling.
• Ability to translate commercial and technical data into practical frameworks and contracts.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across global teams.
