Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build and enhance Chargefox’s EV charging platform. You will join a collaborative engineering team that delivers reliable, high‑performance features used by thousands of Australians daily. The role offers a mix of hands‑on development, code quality focus, and continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain new features in our Ruby on Rails application.
• Write clean, well‑tested, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to translate ideas into functional solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge, and mentor junior team members.
• Support platform reliability, performance, and stability through monitoring and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Approximately 2+ years of commercial experience developing with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of web technologies, RESTful APIs, and relational databases.
• Ability to write readable, maintainable code and ask insightful questions.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
