Software Engineer

About the role

Leidos Australia is looking for a Software Engineer to develop and enhance software capabilities for complex Defence and mission‑critical programs. You will work in an Agile, collaborative environment building microservices‑based solutions using modern technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate features for a distributed system using Golang, TypeScript, Python, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers and stakeholders to translate operational requirements into high‑quality software.
• Support verification and validation of Defence capabilities by creating software components, interfaces, tools and test cases.
• Improve engineering practices through peer reviews, automated testing, configuration management and Agile delivery.

Required profile

• Experience in software design, development, integration, testing and troubleshooting in complex environments.
• Proficiency in Golang, TypeScript, Python or a comparable language.
• Ability to investigate defects, analyse logs and interpret simulation outputs.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in Agile teams.
