Software Engineer – Internet Edge Services

About the role

Join the Internet Edge Services (IES) team within AWS to design, build, and operate large‑scale software that optimizes global internet traffic for Amazon services. You will own the outbound traffic controller that ensures a smooth customer experience during high‑traffic events.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex functional and technical requirements into robust software designs.
• Participate in architecture decisions, design reviews, and feature prioritisation.
• Develop, test, and deliver high‑quality improvements and new features on schedule.
• Monitor system health, investigate customer issues, and enhance system robustness.
• Contribute code across the stack, including alarm definitions, optimization algorithms, and new functionality.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with software and network engineers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
• Experience with AWS services and cloud‑native development.
• Knowledge of design patterns, reliability engineering, and system scaling.
• Familiarity with full software development lifecycle practices: coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
