Software Engineer – Django/React on AWS (Perth)

About the role

Horizon Digital is looking for a Software Engineer to join a utilities client in Perth. You will develop and ship features on a Django and React stack hosted on AWS, working side‑by‑side with the client’s on‑site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver end‑to‑end features using Python/Django and React.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability.
• Collaborate directly with client teams on site to understand processes and translate requirements into working software.
• Leverage AI tools such as Claude Code to accelerate development.
• Progressively add AI‑driven capabilities as the project evolves.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Mid‑level software development experience with a focus on full‑stack delivery.
• Strong Python and Django skills, plus React front‑end experience.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services.
• Quality‑first mindset: you write and test your own code.
• Excellent communication and comfort working on‑site with client teams.
• Self‑starter who thrives with autonomy.
