Software Engineer – Cards & Payments (NPP Integration)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with deep expertise in card issuing and payments to join our team in Australia. The role will focus on building and maintaining online card interfaces, integrating with the New Payments Platform (NPP), and developing middleware services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain integrations across card issuing and payment platforms.
• Work on online interfaces, including Card Fraud systems, Nucleus, Base II, and Core Banking System (CBS) integrations.
• Build and support NPP integrations and related payment messaging solutions.
• Develop APIs and middleware services using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and Java.
• Implement and support IBM MQ‑based messaging solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to ensure robust solutions.
• Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, production support, and performance optimisation.

Required profile

• Strong experience in card issuing systems and payment processing.
• Hands‑on development experience with IBM ACE, Java, IBM MQ, and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with card schemes, transaction lifecycles, authorization, settlement, and fraud management.
• Experience with Australian Payments ecosystem and NPP is desirable.
• Ability to work in an Agile delivery environment.
