Social Media Journalist (6‑month contract)

About the role

Women’s Agenda is seeking a part‑time Social Media Journalist to support its daily news publication across social platforms and the newsletter. The role is a 6‑month fixed‑term contract, working 20‑24 hours per week, and can be performed remotely with occasional visits to the Brookvale office.

Key responsibilities

• Source, create and schedule engaging content for multiple social media channels.
• Write compelling headlines, captions and copy that drive audience growth.
• Develop story ideas and formats quickly during peak news periods.
• Pitch, interview, research and write news stories for the publication.
• Assist with podcast production, editing and promotion where needed.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to align social content with the daily news agenda.

• Passion for news, social media and the evolving landscape of digital journalism.
• Proven experience creating multimedia content that engages audiences.
• Ability to generate creative story ideas on the fly.
• Strong interest in women’s health, representation and economic opportunity.
• Willingness to learn new publishing tools and adapt to fast‑moving news cycles.
