Social Justice Coordinator & Religious Education Teacher

About the role

Loreto Normanhurst is seeking an enthusiastic Social Justice Coordinator and Teacher of Religious Education to join its Faith and Mission Team. This permanent full‑time position combines classroom teaching with leadership of the school’s social‑justice initiatives, fostering students’ understanding of faith, ethics and Catholic Social Teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Studies of Religion and/or Religious Education across all secondary stages, using varied pedagogical strategies.
• Design and deliver learning experiences that develop students’ knowledge of theology, ethics, Catholic Social Teaching and social justice.
• Lead and promote social‑justice and outreach programmes, creating authentic opportunities for encounter, action and advocacy.
• Develop inclusive, sustainable social‑justice and ecological initiatives and embed the Loreto value of Justice across the curriculum.
• Mentor student leaders, coordinate groups such as the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation group and the Primary Justice Crew.
• Support the Community Service program by identifying meaningful service opportunities.
• Build partnerships with the wider Loreto network, justice organisations and community stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified secondary Studies of Religion and/or Religious Education teacher with current NESA accreditation.
• In‑depth knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and a holistic approach to social justice.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver inclusive, sustainable outreach initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to network across the school community.
• Highly developed organisational and time‑management abilities, capable of meeting deadlines and prioritising tasks.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a valid Working with Children Check.
