Site Manager – $5m+ Refurbishment Projects

About the role

Our client, a market‑leading Tier 2 contractor operating across the Defence, industrial, marine and commercial sectors, is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead refurbishment projects up to $5 million in Newcastle, NSW. The role involves overseeing all on‑site activities, ensuring health, safety and quality standards are met while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site HSE and quality inductions for staff and subcontractors.
• Maintain daily site diaries and produce defect lists prior to handover.
• Review and manage key project issues, liaising with statutory bodies and ensuring required notifications are submitted.
• Establish and maintain site compounds, amenities and organise inspections with clients, authorities and consultants.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing scopes of work and understand head‑contract and subcontractor agreements.

Required profile

• Trade or building‑related qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising construction sites, including planning, programming and managing on‑site staff/subcontractors.
• Construction Safety Induction (White) card and Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Desirable Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Strong knowledge of building legislation, regulations and standards.
• Australian citizenship preferred for Defence projects.
