Site Engineering Manager

About the role

Join MECCA's Distribution Centre in Victoria as the Site Engineering Manager, leading the engineering and automation function for a highly automated facility that serves over 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day engineering, maintenance and automation across conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, robotics and the Knapp OSR shuttle solution.
• Act as the technical escalation point, partnering with Knapp, OEMs and service providers to resolve complex faults.
• Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programmes via the CMMS, using performance data to maximise uptime and throughput.
• Oversee broader site maintenance, facilities compliance and statutory obligations.
• Track engineering metrics such as MTBF and MTTR, identifying reliability improvements and bottleneck removal.
• Champion a safety‑first culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Trade or tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant leadership experience in an automated warehouse, distribution centre or manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on knowledge of material handling systems, preferably with experience of Knapp or comparable OSR shuttle technology.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders and remain calm during critical equipment downtime.
