Service Automation Team Lead

About the role

Spectrum Automation builds intelligent automation, control and industrial electrical solutions across Australia. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced people leader with a strong industrial automation background, leading and developing the Melbourne Automation Service team. You will coordinate a fast-moving service workload, act as a key point of contact for clients and provide technical support when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of automation technicians and field service engineers
• Set clear expectations and build a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Hold regular one-on-ones, give constructive feedback and support individual development plans
• Coordinate workloads and priorities across breakdowns, maintenance, shutdowns and project work
• Monitor team utilisation, productivity and delivery performance
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex automation and control system issues
• Build client relationships and communicate clearly on priorities, risks, expectations and outcomes
• Support quoting, scoping and identification of follow-up works and improvement opportunities

Required profile

• Current A Grade Electrical License
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams
• Ability to set clear expectations, manage performance and hold constructive conversations
• Strong client communication and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness, including experience scoping, quoting or delivering service works and automation projects
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

Required skills

• Industrial automation, including PLC, SCADA, HMI and industrial communication systems
• Hands-on experience with breakdowns, fault-finding, maintenance and commissioning in live industrial environments
• Technical ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues
