Senior Tax Advisor – Project (Fixed‑term, Perth)

About the role

The Project Senior Tax Advisor will join Shell Australia’s Integrated Gas business in Perth on a 1‑year fixed‑term contract. You will provide specialist tax advice, support cross‑border tax issues and help the business capture opportunities while managing risk.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver proactive, clear advice on complex tax matters across direct, transfer pricing, indirect and employment tax.
• Serve as first‑line escalation point for technical tax problems and lead resolution within cross‑functional teams.
• Collaborate with global and regional tax teams to manage cross‑border issues and ensure compliance with Australian tax law.
• Maintain and share expertise in country tax structuring, monitor legislative changes, and advise the business accordingly.
• Work closely with Tax Operations, compliance and reporting teams to support period‑end, audit, SOX and authority reviews.
• Build and sustain cooperative relationships with revenue authorities in line with Shell’s Responsible Tax Principles.

Required profile

• Broad experience in business taxation for multinational organisations or professional firms.
• Recognised professional qualification and membership of a recognised accounting or legal body.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, for explaining complex tax issues.
• Proven ability to evaluate tax risks, balance them with business objectives and influence stakeholders.
• Comfort with reviewing tax impacts on project economics and financial modelling.

• Experience with tax technologies, including AI‑driven tools and analytics.
