Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Group Tax Accountant to join our Group Finance team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will act as the in‑house taxation specialist for the Bapcor Group, covering Australian and international tax compliance, reporting and strategic advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate Australian tax compliance, including income tax returns, BAS/GST, FBT and transfer pricing filings.
• Support international tax compliance across New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.
• Prepare tax‑effect accounting (IAS 12) for half‑year and year‑end reporting.
• Assist with tax reporting disclosures, including the annual Tax Transparency Report.
• Provide tax advice to Finance, Commercial teams and Group functions.
• Support tax governance, controls testing and risk management in line with the Tax Governance Framework.
• Monitor tax legislation changes and deliver practical guidance.
• Assist with ATO reviews, audits and M&A activities, including integration and process improvements.

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualification and a degree in Accounting, Commerce or Law.
• 4‑5+ years of corporate tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax (income tax, GST, FBT, transfer pricing).
• Experience with tax‑effect accounting (IAS 12) – highly desired.
• Exposure to ATO reviews and tax governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
