Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

St Vincent’s Health Australia is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Infrastructure Operations team. You will be responsible for the stability, security and performance of enterprise infrastructure across clinical, corporate and research environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise Windows, Linux, VMware and hybrid‑cloud platforms, including core services such as Active Directory, Exchange, DNS and DHCP.
• Provide advanced operational support, incident resolution and act as an escalation point for major incidents.
• Run patching, vulnerability remediation and audit readiness in partnership with the Cybersecurity team.
• Contribute to disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity planning and testing.
• Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell, Bash and other scripting tools.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across physical and virtual environments.
• Deep knowledge of security controls, patching and vulnerability management.
• Experience working in ITIL‑aligned environments and on‑call rotation.

Required skills

• Windows Server, Linux (RHCSA), VMware (VCP‑DCV).
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange.
• Backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Cohesity).
• Scripting languages: PowerShell, Bash.
• Azure or hybrid‑cloud exposure.
• Relevant certifications: Microsoft AZ‑104, AZ‑800/801, ITIL v4.
