Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead a critical Microsoft Windows Server upgrade project. This temporary full‑time position will support modernising essential technology services across NSW while providing day‑to‑day operational support.

Key responsibilities

• Act as subject‑matter expert for Windows Server upgrades, from discovery and planning through implementation and handover.
• Administer Windows Server environments across on‑premises, VMware, AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms.
• Identify and mitigate platform, security and lifecycle risks.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing advice to stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, processes and operational guides.

Required profile

• Significant experience administering Microsoft Windows Server in a large or complex organisation.
• Proven track record delivering server upgrades, migrations or infrastructure remediation projects.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and identity services.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail.
