Senior System RAMS Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a self‑motivated Senior System RAMS Engineer to join its Brisbane team. The role involves a blend of administrative and strategic tasks within a fast‑paced environment, supporting the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of rail systems.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and support RAM activities, including budgeting and forecast management.
• Provide early‑stage feedback to project and product design teams.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis and apply reliability modelling techniques such as RBDs, FTA, Markov Chains and Petri‑Nets.
• Perform life‑cycle cost analysis and reliability predictions according to IEC 61709:2017, MIL‑HDBK 217F, FIDES and other standards.
• Demonstrate RAM parameters performance in operation and manage FRACAS processes.
• Define and communicate RAM requirements to suppliers and manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Technical degree or equivalent background.
• Minimum 5 years of RAMS experience, preferably in rail, aerospace or automotive sectors.
• Strong knowledge of international RAMS standards and reliability engineering practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Isograph or equivalent reliability analysis software.
• Ability to apply reliability modelling methods (RBD, FTA, Markov Chains, Petri‑Nets).
• Competence in conducting Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis and FRACAS.
