Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Orion Group, a multi-disciplinary land development company with five offices across Queensland and New South Wales, is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer for its Brisbane team. The role is based in the central CBD office and suits someone who wants to work on a variety of projects in a friendly, supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of structural design projects, producing high-quality documentation with approved software and meeting Orion Group standards and processes.
• Identify, manage and resolve complex design challenges using sound engineering judgement.
• Coordinate and mentor engineers and drafters, giving technical leadership, quality oversight and guidance.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships, liaising with consultants and authorities and overseeing inspections, reporting and certification.
• Prepare fee proposals, tender submissions, scopes of work and project budgets, and handle invoicing and financial performance.
• Strengthen drafting standards, implement best-practice systems and identify new project and revenue opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with current CPEng and RPEQ accreditation.
• At least 8 years of structural design experience across residential, commercial and industrial projects.
• Ability to prepare detailed and concept designs, technical reports and coordinated drawing packages accurately.
• Class C driver's licence and White Card (WHS construction induction).

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in structural design and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and core structural engineering principles.
• Project coordination, time management and teamwork.
