Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist (Rehabilitation Medicine)

About the role

Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services (GARS) is a 16-bed facility in Rockhampton providing specialised, interdisciplinary care for older people needing rehabilitation and geriatric support, across inpatient, ambulatory and outreach settings. It is looking for a Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine to deliver specialist care to older people with complex medical and rehabilitation needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead clinical care and decision-making, including supervision of treating teams, expert input to Emergency Department presentations and support for patient flow and bed capacity.
• Provide clinical leadership and develop medical staff by supervising Registrars, PHOs and junior doctors, supporting their performance, development and best practice.
• Work across the multidisciplinary and community continuum, building partnerships for coordinated care.
• Drive education, innovation and knowledge sharing, including teaching, research, clinical improvement and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, or Fellowship of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FAFRM), with specialist registration or eligibility.
• Proven ability to lead assessment, admission, ongoing management, transfer and discharge of patients with complex rehabilitation needs.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement, evidence-based practice and research and education within Rehabilitation Medicine.

What we offer

• Total remuneration of up to $564,939 per year, with a salary of $223,136-$259,187 (L18-L24) or $266,839-$282,912 (L25-L27).
