Senior Software Engineer – Payments Platform

About the role

Join the Payments Platform team at Macquarie and help build a modern, real‑time Open Payments Platform that is reliable, scalable and based on no‑ops technology. As a senior engineer you will own critical components, influence technical direction and mentor peers in a high‑performing, autonomous environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core micro‑service components of the Payments Platform, ensuring high reliability and performance.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews and incident management, driving solutions from design to production.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing and best‑practice guidance.
• Contribute to technical debt reduction, DevOps practices and the adoption of AI tools to improve development efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering robust Java applications using Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on expertise with Google Cloud services and NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of micro‑services, event‑driven architecture and security best practices for financial transactions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with product managers, engineering peers and other stakeholders.
