Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Australian Payments Plus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build secure, scalable software that powers Australia’s critical payments infrastructure. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborate with product, architecture and engineering teams, and champion modern engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, resilient software solutions that support business and customer outcomes.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex components, APIs and distributed systems using cloud‑native technologies.
• Drive technical excellence through clean architecture, secure coding standards, code reviews and continuous improvement.
• Optimize delivery with CI/CD pipelines, automation, Infrastructure‑as‑Code and container orchestration.
• Leverage AI‑powered development tools to accelerate coding, testing and documentation while maintaining high quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience with Java, TypeScript or C#.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience delivering complex, scalable distributed systems and cloud‑native applications.
• Strong understanding of secure software engineering practices and OWASP risks.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams and influencing technical decisions.
