Senior Software Engineer - Fullstack PHP

About the role

Squiz is building a cloud‑based Digital Experience Platform (DXP) and is looking for a senior full‑stack engineer to join the Product Engineering team. You will focus on the flagship Content Management System, Matrix, and work in a flexible, hybrid environment on the east coast of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust PHP applications on AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate with a small team to create user stories, acceptance criteria and estimates.
• Guide junior engineers and support senior engineers in delivering large‑scale modernization projects.
• Write and maintain technical documentation and contribute to road‑maps.
• Lead best practices in code quality, testing and architecture across the stack.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience building and maintaining large‑scale software products.
• Proven ability to work independently on complex modernization initiatives.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in PHP and AWS.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code, Aurora/PostgreSQL relational databases.
• GitLab CI/CD, Docker containers.
• Testing principles and secure coding practices (OWASP).
• Familiarity with React, Node.js, Dynatrace and Cloudflare is a plus.
