Senior Software Engineer – Embedded to Cloud

About the role

Horizon Digital is seeking a senior software engineer who can operate across the full technology stack of a live mining project, from hardware interaction on the bench to cloud data delivery. The role blends embedded systems, telemetry, and modern web interfaces in a demanding field environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Linux services that communicate with PLCs, CAN buses and ROS.
• Handle 750 kbps telemetry over wireline, troubleshoot low‑bandwidth constraints and evolve the system toward faster TCP/IP communication.
• Develop a high‑performance operator HMI, preferably using React.
• Ensure system reliability targeting 97 % uptime.
• Collaborate across hardware, software and cloud layers to keep data flowing end‑to‑end.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer comfortable from hardware up to application layers.
• Strong experience with Linux services and low‑level system development.
• Hands‑on knowledge of PLCs, CAN bus, ROS or similar industrial/robotics technologies.
• Proven ability to build robust field‑deployed systems.
• Willingness to move between embedded, backend and frontend tasks as needed.
