Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Native (12‑Month Fixed Term)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a leading healthcare organisation in Sydney on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with the potential to become permanent. The role focuses on designing, building and deploying cloud‑native solutions on AWS, leveraging AI‑assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure applications using Java, Python and React.
• Develop and maintain micro‑service and event‑driven architectures on AWS.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and operations teams to ensure high‑performance deployments.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
• Mentor junior developers and champion clean‑code standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in building cloud‑native applications on AWS.
• Strong background with Java, Python and modern front‑end frameworks such as React.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor).
• Deep understanding of software architecture, APIs, micro‑services and event‑driven systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, IaC and container platforms.
