Senior Review Officer – AO7

About the role

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is seeking an AO7 Senior Review Officer to lead independent external reviews of decisions made by Queensland government agencies under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009. You will work within a high‑performing, transparent public‑sector environment, providing guidance to Review Officers and contributing to the agency’s performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Assess routine and complex external review applications under the RTI and IP Acts.
• Engage with applicants by phone and in writing to discuss review issues and explore informal resolution opportunities.
• Prepare clear, concise formal decisions for delegate consideration.
• Mentor and guide Review Officers, fostering professional development.
• Support the OIC’s mission to improve government transparency and information privacy.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in reviewing decisions, legal or regulatory matters, preferably within the public sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyse complex information and make sound judgments.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop junior staff.
