Job description
About the role
The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is recruiting a Senior Project Officer for the National Indigenous Kidney Transplantation Taskforce (NIKTT). The NIKTT was set up in 2019 to improve access to and outcomes from kidney transplantation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and is now moving its work to organisations best placed to carry it forward. The role runs for 12 months and focuses on coordinating the transition, finding long-term hosts for ongoing work and delivering remaining priorities such as community consultation, a data dashboard and a review of kidney transplantation actions for First Nations people.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the transition of NIKTT's work, identify and engage long-term hosts, manage decommissioning of work that will not continue and communicate with community and clinical stakeholders.
- Complete community consultations for the NIKTT data dashboard, incorporate feedback from the Technical Advisory Group and finalise the dashboard for publication.
- Finalise performance reports, including an assessment of progress against the original 35 TSANZ recommendations.
- Manage the day-to-day administration of the NIKTT funding contract, track milestones and deliverables, prepare reports to funders and maintain records of contractual obligations.
- Take part in special projects that improve processes, tools and systems, and follow the Institute's Work, Health and Safety Management System.
Required profile
- Commitment to and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' access to health care.
- Knowledge, experience or engagement with programs around chronic health conditions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience in stakeholder consultation and relationship management with community, clinical and government stakeholders.
- Experience in report and proposal writing, synthesising literature and evidence into clear recommendations.
- Experience with data visualisation, dashboard development or presenting complex health data; project management skills, including managing multiple deliverables and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgement.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) required; some out-of-hours work and possible intrastate or interstate travel.
Applicants must hold relevant working rights in Australia at the time of application. Applications close on 11 November 2026.
