Senior Project Manager

About the role

Capgemini Invent is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large‑scale, high‑visibility projects for Defence clients in Australia. The role is client‑facing and covers end‑to‑end delivery, governance and stakeholder engagement across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑impact projects from initiation through to successful completion.
• Develop and execute integrated plans covering scope, schedule, budget and resources.
• Own delivery outcomes by proactively managing risks, issues and changes.
• Establish effective governance frameworks, reporting rhythms and delivery discipline.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior Defence stakeholders, leading steering committees and key forums.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.
• Lead cross‑functional teams, vendors and stakeholders, managing dependencies and resource constraints.
• Provide concise updates on status, financials, risks and performance to support informed decision‑making.
• Apply flexible delivery approaches, leveraging waterfall, agile or hybrid methodologies as appropriate.
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and iterative delivery.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with baseline security clearance and/or NV1 clearance.
• 7+ years of project management experience delivering complex, large‑scale projects.
• Demonstrated experience working in Defence environments or the Defence industry.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior client organisations.
• Strong governance, risk and stakeholder management capabilities.
