Senior Project Engineer - VRET (Civil & Structural)

About the role

The Port of Hastings Corporation, a Victorian state-owned commercial port, is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer (Civil & Structural) for its Design & Construction Team. The engineer leads engineering design, technical assurance and delivery of major infrastructure packages for the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal (VRET), which is central to Victoria's offshore wind development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering management of quay walls, marine structures, piling systems, reinforced concrete works, heavy-duty pavements and associated landside infrastructure.
• Work with multidisciplinary design consultants, contractors and stakeholders to coordinate design development and manage technical interfaces and risks.
• Review construction methodologies and contractor designs, and support procurement and construction delivery.
• Help ensure safe, high-quality outcomes aligned with project scope, cost, schedule, environmental requirements and long-term operational needs.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil, Structural or Marine Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive experience.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure projects across design, approvals, procurement and construction phases.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering design management, contractor design review and technical assurance during construction.

Required skills

• Knowledge of engineering standards, codes, occupational health and safety requirements and environmental compliance obligations.
• Desirable: experience in port, marine or offshore wind projects, marine piling and quay wall construction, and managing design consultants and technical specialists.
