Senior Operations and Practice Manager

About the role

A well-established and growing wealth advisory business is looking for a Senior Operations and Practice Manager to lead its advice operations function. This is a high-impact leadership role in a full-time position based in Melbourne (Inner South East), focused on operational excellence, adviser productivity and scalable processes across paraplanning, client services and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop high-performing teams: coach and mentor team leaders and an operations manager, set clear expectations on performance, workflow and service delivery, and build a culture of accountability, collaboration and client focus.
• Drive operational excellence: ensure smooth day-to-day operations across advice support teams, identify and resolve inefficiencies, bottlenecks and risks, and act as escalation point for complex issues.
• Improve adviser productivity: partner with advisers to optimise workload and capacity, remove operational friction and align team capability with adviser demand.
• Own performance reporting and insights: deliver clear insights on workflow, utilisation and capacity, using data to influence decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks, own advice systems such as Xplan, and lead operational improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 8+ years' experience in financial advice operations, paraplanning or client services; high-net-worth client experience highly regarded.
• Proven leadership experience managing managers and/or teams.
• Strong track record of driving operational improvement and change.
• Commercial mindset with experience in capacity planning and workflow management.
• Confident engaging with advisers and senior stakeholders.
