Senior Mobile App Developer – Government Projects

About the role

This is a permanent, full‑time position within the Local Peoples team, supporting the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). You will work in an Agile delivery environment on large‑scale digital solutions that help Australians access skills, training, and employment services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy native mobile applications for iOS and Android.
• Participate in requirements gathering, analysis, and solution design activities.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, testers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable software.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Maintain, enhance, and optimise existing mobile applications and related systems.
• Produce and keep technical documentation throughout the SDLC.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to problem‑solving and propose innovative technical solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent industry experience.
• Extensive experience developing enterprise‑grade mobile applications.
• Strong background working in Agile software development environments.
• Proven ability to deliver solutions in complex enterprise or government settings.
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle.

Required skills

• Native iOS development using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Native Android development using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Design and consumption of Microsoft Web API / REST architecture.
• SQL and Entity Framework for data access.
• Building and integrating RESTful APIs.
