Senior Mine Planning Engineer

About the role

Northern Star Resources is looking for a Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join its Underground Technical Services team at the Kalgoorlie Production Centre (KCGM Operations). Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the role covers the safe management and delivery of all medium-term planning requirements within the Mining Engineering team. The position is on a 4/3 roster with 12-hour days, either residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder or fly-in fly-out (FIFO) from Perth, and sits in a period of growth for the company's underground gold mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, optimise and provide cost analysis for underground mine plans.
• Design and develop the long-term plan for supporting infrastructure.
• Prepare and deliver a rolling 36-month plan, collaborating with operational departments to keep it aligned.
• Contribute to technical studies, trade-offs and project evaluations to support strategic decisions.
• Assist long-term planning with ore reserve preparation in line with JORC code definitions and life-of-mine design generation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering.
• More than 5 years' experience in underground mining operations.
• More than 2 years in underground mine planning and scheduling roles.
• WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (desirable).
• Unrestricted C class driver's licence.
• Pre-employment eligibility includes medical, drug and alcohol screening, right to work and a valid Australian national police clearance.
