Senior Mental Health Clinician - Child and Parenting Program

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Clinician to join its Child and Parenting Support Service. The service provides specialised mental health support to children, parents and carers in Normanton, Croydon and Karumba, and works with educators and families to build supportive networks. The role is full-time, on a maximum term contract until 30 June 2027, with a FIFO arrangement from Cairns.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 clinical counselling, including play-based therapy for young people and their parents, covering stress, grief and trauma
• Run psycho-educational sessions for school staff to support children with anxiety and other learning difficulties
• Collaborate with other providers to ensure comprehensive care and build partnerships that improve service quality

Required profile

• AHPRA registration or AASW membership
• Qualification in Psychology, Social Work (AASW accredited desirable), Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing
• At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in a relevant clinical field
• Demonstrated experience in brief interventions, therapeutic counselling, case management and mental health education with children and young people
• Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing
• Current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence

• Remuneration up to 125K plus superannuation, salary packaging of $18,500 and allowances of about $130 per day
