Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical & Piping to lead the delivery of mechanical and piping works for the Alkimos Seawater Alliance desalination project. You will ensure engineering, procurement, construction and quality activities are executed safely, efficiently and in line with project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage mechanical and piping engineering works, aligning with scope, schedule and quality requirements.
• Drive safety initiatives, conduct inspections, review SWMS and monitor subcontractor safety performance.
• Lead procurement processes, including RFQs, supplier evaluation and delivery strategy development.
• Develop and review construction methodologies, work packs and temporary works for compliant execution.
• Manage project schedules, monitor critical path activities and work with planning teams to mitigate risks.
• Oversee construction engineering activities, ensuring method statements, QA processes and technical requirements are met.
• Maintain cost control, budget tracking and risk/opportunity identification.
• Utilise digital engineering tools for planning, design coordination and site execution.
• Build and lead engineering teams, fostering performance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, ITPs, NCR management and documentation control.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Engineer on major infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and piping engineering disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Experience delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
