Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our advanced battery systems team in Brisbane. You will work on cutting‑edge battery assemblies for automotive, marine, aerospace and industrial applications, taking concepts through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design custom battery assemblies, high‑current power circuits, harnesses and busbars.
• Develop enclosures optimized for thermal, vibration and impact performance.
• Perform simulation, testing and validation to refine designs.
• Produce technical drawings, bills of materials and product requirement documents.
• Research and apply manufacturing methods for low‑ and high‑volume production.
• Manage product data within a PLM/PDM environment and support multidisciplinary decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 4 years of post‑graduate design experience with complex assemblies.
• Proven ability to take products from concept to production, including DFMEA, DFA/DFX and BOM management.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• 3D parametric modelling (SolidWorks or Inventor).
• Manufacturing processes: CNC machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, injection moulding, 3D printing.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and prototyping.
• Use of Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira.
