Senior Maritime Engineer

About the role

Haskoning Australia is looking for a Senior Maritime Engineer who is passionate about designing water‑based structures and building strong relationships with local stakeholders to improve coastal environments. In this senior position you will lead both project management and technical design activities, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for ports, harbours, quay walls, wharves, jetties, dolphins, piles, sheet piles, seawalls, waterfront developments, boat harbours and navigation aids.
• Produce design calculations, review and check the work of other engineers, and prepare technical documents such as Basis of Design, design reports, technical notes and feasibility studies.
• Manage engineering designs using various construction media including steel, concrete, timber and aluminium.
• Carry out structural inspections and produce inspection reports.
• Prepare work execution plans, allocate resources and schedule activities to meet project timelines.
• Deliver multiple small‑to‑medium projects following company systems, ensuring they meet scope, schedule and budget requirements.
• Supervise and mentor less‑experienced engineers and other team members.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in maritime, port or coastal engineering.
• Proven ability to lead and oversee engineering assignments from concept through delivery.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules and stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated capability to supervise and mentor junior engineers.
