Senior Manager, Software Engineering

About the role

Anduril’s Maritime Division is seeking a Senior Manager to lead multiple software teams delivering autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration and command‑and‑control capabilities for next‑generation underwater and surface platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute a multi‑year, multi‑stakeholder software roadmap across several product families.
• Manage architecture selection for robotic systems, including hardware, compute, storage, networking and service orchestration.
• Lead a group of 10‑24 engineers (plus dotted‑line responsibility for additional 10‑24) through full product lifecycle from design to sustainment.
• Oversee budget, risk management and delivery processes, ensuring alignment with broader organisational strategy.
• Mentor engineers and managers, drive technical excellence and represent software interests to engineering, business and sales leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven senior management experience in a high‑performing technology organisation.
• Extensive background as a Software Engineer across multiple domains.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Required skills

• Backend development in C, C++, Rust or Go.
• Frontend development with TypeScript and React.
• Embedded software development, RTOS experience.
• Design and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with communication buses and protocols (CAN, CANFD, UART, RS232, RS422, RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC‑825, ARINC‑429, MIL‑STD‑1553).
• Knowledge of safety‑critical standards such as DO‑178, IEC 61508.
• Experience with modeling, simulation and sensor/actuator integration.
