Senior Manager - Director - Stamp Duty Specialist, Financial Services

About the role

EY is looking for a Senior Manager, Director or State Taxes Manager to join its Financial Services Indirect Tax team in Sydney. The team works with Australia's leading organisations on complex tax issues, and the role involves managing a portfolio of financial services clients and advising on State Taxes, mainly in transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of financial services clients, advising on State Taxes issues predominantly in transactions
• Partner with clients to identify and resolve complex State Tax issues, delivering practical, commercially focused solutions
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, expanding service offerings and developing innovative solutions
• Lead, coach and develop indirect tax professionals, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team
• Contribute to practice growth through business development, thought leadership, market engagement and leveraging existing networks

Required profile

• Substantial experience in stamp duty gained within a professional services accounting firm, law firm or revenue authority
• Experience in land tax is welcomed but not compulsory
• Strong leadership capability, with a track record of driving market-facing initiatives, leading complex client engagements and building high-performing teams

Required skills

• Strong technical stamp duty expertise, able to turn complex legislative and regulatory requirements into practical, commercial advice
• A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement and using technology to improve client outcomes
