Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator to join its Mainframe Core Systems team. In this permanent position you will be responsible for the performance, availability and strategic evolution of critical DB2 platforms that support millions of customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and expert advice on DB2 administration, performance tuning, monitoring and optimisation.
• Lead implementation of new DB2 functionality and platform enhancements in collaboration with application teams.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase platform stability, service quality and cost efficiency.
• Partner with technology, production support and application stakeholders to deliver reliable DB2‑based solutions.
• Participate in 24 × 7 on‑call rotation supporting critical production systems.
• Perform capacity planning, performance analysis, troubleshooting and root‑cause investigations.
• Contribute to project estimations, solution design and strategic platform planning.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices across the organisation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience administering DB2 on mainframe environments.
• Strong knowledge of high‑availability, recovery processes and platform architecture.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a commitment to service excellence.
