Senior Lecturer in Natural Sciences

About the role

Macquarie University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Natural Sciences for its School of Natural Sciences, based at the Wallumattagal Campus in North Ryde. This is a full-time, continuing academic leadership role combining teaching, curriculum development and governance, with a focus on undergraduate and postgraduate education in conservation, climate change and ecology.

Key responsibilities

• Lead teaching, curriculum development and governance within the School of Natural Sciences
• Drive excellence in curriculum design, pedagogical innovation and course planning
• Lead curriculum review, accreditation, quality assurance and continuous improvement so programs stay rigorous, compliant and responsive to student and industry needs
• Mentor and develop academic and sessional teaching teams, fostering a culture of educational excellence and evidence-informed practice

Required profile

• PhD in conservation, ecology or a closely related discipline (or near completion)
• Demonstrated strong teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate biology, ecology, conservation and climate change
• Experience in curriculum design, review and innovation, and in course and program development, quality assurance and assessment
• Leadership in education governance through School, Faculty and/or University committees
• Commitment to inclusive, student-centred and experiential learning
• High-level communication and collaboration skills, and experience in strategic teaching and resource planning
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or current residence in Australia with full working rights

What we offer

• Salary package of $155,236 - $164,549 (Level C.1-C.3) plus 17% employer superannuation and annual leave loading
