Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Teaching & Research

About the role

The School of Law, Society and Criminology at UNSW Law & Justice is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) to join its teaching and research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ) programme and help shape the faculty’s strategic focus on social justice, First Nations justice and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching for BCCJ courses, including Criminology in Practice and Work Integrated Learning placements.
• Develop and maintain an active, internationally recognised research agenda in law, criminology or related fields.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering their academic and professional development.
• Contribute to curriculum design, ensuring integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
• Engage with external partners, policy makers and community organisations to enhance the impact of research and teaching.
• Participate in faculty service, committees and outreach activities aligned with the Law & Justice 2030 strategy.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in law, criminology, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly publications and research funding.
• Proven experience teaching at the university level, preferably in criminology or criminal justice.
• Commitment to social justice, human rights and the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives.
• Valid Australian work rights.
