Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Teaching and Research

About the role

The School of Law, Society and Criminology at UNSW Law & Justice is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) to join its teaching and research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ) programme, delivering courses such as Criminology in Practice and the Work Integrated Learning Placement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and assess undergraduate and postgraduate criminology and criminal justice courses.
• Develop and maintain an active, high‑quality research agenda aligned with the School’s strategic priorities.
• Engage with industry, community and Indigenous partners to enhance the relevance and impact of teaching and research.
• Participate in departmental and faculty service, including curriculum development, student supervision and academic committees.
• Contribute to the School’s commitment to incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

Required profile

• Doctorate or equivalent in criminology, criminal justice, law or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly research with publications in reputable journals.
• Proven ability to teach and mentor students at university level.
• Valid working rights for Australia.
• Commitment to social justice, First Nations education and the strategic goals of UNSW Law & Justice.

• Competitive salary: Level C from $155,000 or Level D from $185,000 per annum.
