About the role
Join BBC News’ expanding digital operation in Sydney as a Senior Journalist – Growth & Social. You will publish, curate and manage output on social media, shaping the BBC’s digital coverage for audiences across Asia, Oceania and the UK.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver and optimise social media output for target regions, collaborating with global teams and attending daily news meetings.
- Monitor emerging trends and support the development of major news events and digital campaigns.
- Drive audience growth and engagement strategies, providing real‑time, data‑informed insights to inform editorial decisions.
Required profile
- Proven experience delivering and optimising news content across multiple social media platforms.
- Track record of implementing successful audience growth strategies.
- Strong editorial judgment with an audience‑first mindset.
Required skills
- Proficiency with analytics tools such as Piano, Chartbeat, Newswhip, Google Trends and Semrush.
- Experience using industry‑standard social media publishing and optimisation tools.
- Ability to translate data into actionable editorial strategies.
