Senior IT System Administrator – Williamtown

About the role

Boeing is looking for a Senior IT System Administrator to join its team at RAAF Base Williamtown. You will support the United Kingdom E‑7 Wedgetail airborne surveillance, communications and battle‑management system, ensuring the reliability and security of critical production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Secure and maintain computer systems in production, including hardening and remediation activities.
• Support multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux) and hardware (servers, PCs, storage).
• Administer virtual servers, Active Directory and system‑monitoring tools.
• Provide daily system administration and help‑desk support.
• Diagnose and resolve ad‑hoc issues to minimise downtime.
• Manage IT security tasks in JIRA and ensure timely resolution.
• Assist with updating and maintaining IT documentation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Horizon, VMware and vSphere.
• Experience with server management and operating systems including PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Exchange and RHEL.
• Familiarity with backup and disaster‑recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Eaton IPM, HPE) – highly desirable.
• Networking experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Raritan – highly desirable.
• Understanding of information‑security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST) is beneficial.
• Defence‑industry experience is an advantage.
