Senior iOS Engineer (Android Contractor)

About the role

This contractor position is for a senior native Android engineer to join a mobile engineering squad at one of Australia's largest banks. The role focuses on building an offline‑first architecture using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with initial onsite work in Melbourne followed by a hybrid arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an offline‑first Android app with SQLite persistence and gRPC‑generated networking code.
• Implement clean architecture patterns (MVVM or MVI) with dependency injection (Hilt or Dagger) and ensure robust security (Keystore, encrypted preferences, certificate pinning, OAuth2).

Required profile

• Design resilient UI that continues to function when APIs time out.
• Prefer strongly typed contracts and automated code generation over loose JSON.

Required skills

• Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (5+ years senior Android experience).
• SQLite offline‑first data handling, schema migrations, thread‑safe sync.
• Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• gRPC, Protocol Buffers, automated code generation.
• Clean Architecture, MVVM/MVI, Hilt or Dagger.
• Android security fundamentals (Keystore, EncryptedSharedPreferences, certificate pinning, OAuth2).
• Optional: LaunchDarkly feature flags, Swift/SwiftUI knowledge, FinTech domain experience.
