Senior HVAC Drafter / Drafting Lead

About the role

A premier mechanical contracting firm in Brisbane is expanding its engineering team because of a substantial, long-term pipeline of landmark projects. It is looking for an experienced Senior HVAC Drafter / Drafting Lead to lead high-profile projects, set drafting standards and mentor an established team of junior professionals. The role suits someone who wants to work on Tier 1-level projects in a stable, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead spatial coordination and drafting of complex HVAC systems for major commercial and institutional projects from inception to handover.
• Guide, support and develop junior and mid-level drafters, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Use BIM tools to ensure seamless project execution and clash detection.
• Work with project managers, engineers and site teams so that models match constructability requirements and project timelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HVAC drafting within the Australian construction or contracting market.
• Experience with Tier 1 mechanical contractors is highly regarded but not essential.
• Natural ability to mentor staff, communicate with diverse stakeholders and take ownership of design outcomes.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Revit, Revizto and Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.
• Exposure to large-scale projects such as healthcare facilities, data centres or high-rise commercial developments is beneficial.
