Senior HR Generalist

About the role

Commerce is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join its Sydney office. Reporting to the Manager of HR Business Partners, you will help shape HR strategy, manage employee relations, and ensure a welcoming, inclusive workplace for all staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Support the HRBP team by contributing to department goals, objectives and systems aligned with the company’s strategic direction.
• Provide day‑to‑day performance‑management guidance to line managers, including coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
• Manage and resolve employee‑relations issues, conduct investigations and oversee performance‑improvement plans in partnership with HRBPs.
• Drive execution of HR/COE programs such as talent assessments, career pathing and organizational design.
• Develop, implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and protocols, ensuring legal compliance.
• Support internal communications to promote People & Culture programs and maintain alignment with the BigCommerce brand.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role, preferably in a fast‑moving technology environment.
• Strong knowledge of employee‑relations practices, performance‑management processes and HR policy compliance.
• Ability to conduct thorough, objective investigations and handle confidential matters with discretion.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a customer‑first mindset.
• Based in Sydney and able to work on‑site full time.
